RAPAPORT.. Rio Tinto announced a global design competition, representing four categories of diamond jewelry that reflect the diversity of the company's diamonds. The competition is open to designers in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, China, India and Australia. Eight winning designs will be showcased at the 2012 Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
Designers can submit-their work in four categories: Champagne diamonds, silvermist diamonds, Canadian diamonds and sustainable jewelry. Within the four categories, there are two levels “Rising Star” and “Master Craftsman.”
The competition closes on October 26, 2011, with winners being selected by a panel of jewelry designers, fashion experts and celebrity stylists on November 2 in New York.
